Michelle has a passion for science, science education, and science learners of all ages. She is focused on the implementation of the CA NGSS by promoting three-dimensional learning and phenomena-based instruction, K-12. At the heart of her work is assisting districts in identifying the barriers which create gaps in opportunities for students to access science education thereby increasing the percentage of economically disadvantaged students, minority students, and girls that pursue STEM careers.

Jamie has 19 years of educational experience, 2 years of Science Specialist experience. Jamie is passionate about students learning science with hands on experience. Hands on benefits student learning by giving them a chance to make discoveries on their own and foster connections to real world situations. I encourage teachers to register for Science 4 Kern Kits. Justin has been noticing and wondering in Kern County all of his life. He is a student of schools in Bakersfield from kindergarten to a bachelors and teaching credential from CSUB. Justin has taught middle school and 5th grade in Bakersfield City School District and Greenfield Union School District. This is where he found the power of student engagement through phenomena driven science instruction. Justin is excited to work with districts in the county to increase high-quality, highly-interactive science learning in all grade levels.

Holli Gonzalez was born and raised in Bakersfield and is a product of Kern County education. She taught middle school science for 15 years in the Delano Union School District and served as the district level Science Instructional Specialist for the Bakersfield City School District for over 4 years. She is passionate about providing engaging, hands-on STEM learning experiences for students of all ages. Holli looks forward to the opportunity to share her passion for STEM education with districts across the county to help students and teachers discover why “Science Rules!”.
