Early Childhood Education operates 13 child development centers located in Bakersfield, Lamont, McFarland, Shafter and Wasco. We serve more than 1,000 preschool children from low-income families. It is our goal to support the family in its child-rearing role by establishing a positive partnership between the state and family. All children are cared for in a safe, nurturing and developmentally appropriate classroom with highly qualified staff. Children will have daily opportunities to learn new and exciting concepts through purposeful play.
Kern County Superintendent of Schools Early Childhood Education Programs provide services to over 1,000 children throughout various communities located in Kern County. Programs are funded through the California Department of Education, Title 5 and are licensed through the Department of Social Services Community Care Licensing, Title 22. We adhere to rules and regulations of both agencies.
