SMALL SCHOOLS LEAGUE
CREATIVE CO-ED VOLLEYBALL RULES

  1. Indoor courts are 60 feet long, 30 feet wide outdoor court- 60 feet long, 34 feet wide.
  2. Net height is 6’10’’ (or as close to that as we can get).
  3. Inside courts use the blue lines, black center lines; outside court has white lines.
  4. Any ball hitting the line is considered “in”.
  5. If a served ball hits the gym ceiling lights, etc. as it is going over the net, it is “out” and side-out is called.
  6. If a player hits the ball into the ceiling, lights, etc. and their own side, it can be played as one of the up to three hits.
  7. If the ball hits the ceiling, lights, etc. and lands in the opponents court it will be replayed if in the judgement of the official it was a playable ball except for the contact, otherwise it will be considered “out”.
  8. Serving team will be determined at the beginning of each game with a coin toss (on the outside court, the non-serving team picks which side they want.)
  9. Rotation will be in a clockwise direction with right back player being the server.
  10. Teams will have at least 3 girls on the court.
  11. Substitution will be on the rotation at the center back position.
  12. Service can be in front of the service line, however, if the serve is over the net, the server must back up one step on each successful serve. (The idea is to allow the students to be successful at their serve, but not give any team an unfair advantage.)
  13. Serves may be either over-hand or under-hand, but players must wait for the official to signal service.
  14. Only the serving team can serve points.
  15. A serve touching the net will result in a side-out.
  16. A game will be to 15 points (teams must win by 2 points), or the team with the most points when time expires will be the “winner”.
  17. Games will be 15 minutes long.
  18. Illegal hits: two-handed hits lifting the ball, catching/throwing the ball.
  19. Players must not catch or touch a ball going out of bounds until after it hits the floor/wall.
  20. Players are not to come in contact with the net.
  21. Players can step on the center line, but not over it.
  22. The ball may be played only 3 times on a side, and a player may not play it twice in succession (a block does not count as one of the 3 hits).
  23. The official can call for a replay on a point.

Small Schools Track & Field

Running events will take precedence over the field events. The running events will be ran once and the field events will run continuously. All events will be announced over the loud speaker.

Please send a complete typed list of all students. (First and last names with ages/gender.) Students may not enter any event more than once, and they may only be entered in one age group.

Ribbons for 1st thru 3rd place will be awarded to the participants.

Once again, we are asking for participants from each school to help with the various events:

  1. Running Events – Maricopa
  2. Running Long Jump – Elk Hills
  3. Softball Throw – Midway
  4. Standing Board Jump – Maricopa
  5. High Jump – Piute/Caliente

Small Schools Track Meet
Standing Broad Jump

  1. Each participant must wear shoes.
  2. No warm-ups.
  3. Each participant takes two jumps consecutively.
  4. Mark the first jump with their marker number. Mark the second jump only if the second jump is further than the first jump.
  5. Shoes may not cross over the take-off board’s edge closest to the direction of the jump. Doing so disqualifies the jump, but counts one of the two attempts.
  6. If a participant falls backward on rear or hands, mark the distance closest to the board, this constitutes a jump.
  7. Mark the distance with a tape measure after all jumps have been taken.

Small Schools Track Meet
Running Long Jump

  1. Each participant must wear shoes.
  2. No warm-ups.
  3. Each participant may take only two jumps.
  4. After each jump each participant returns to the end of the line-rotate.
  5. Mark the first jump with their marker number. Mark the second jump only if the second jump is further than the first jump.
  6. Shoes may not cross over the take-off board’s edge closest to the pit. Doing so disqualifies the jump, but counts as one of the two attempts. Each participant should try to jump off the board.
  7. If a participant falls backward on rear or hands, mark the distance closest to the board, this constitutes a jump.
  8. Mark the distance with a tape measure after all jumps have been taken.

Smalls Schools Track Meet
Softball Throw

  1. Each participant must wear shoes.
  2. No warm-up throws.
  3. Each participant takes all two throws consecutively.
  4. Mark first throw where it hits with the marker number.
  5. Each participant may not cross over the starting line (zero distance) when throwing the softball. If this happens, the throw is disqualified but counts as one of their attempts.
  6. Mark the distance with the tape measure after both throws have been taken.

Small Schools Track Meet
High Jump

  1. Each participant must wear shoes.
  2. No warm-up jumps.
  3. Each participant must jump off one-foot only, not both feet.
  4. Neither hand may be placed on the mat while jumping over the bar.
  5. If the participant does not touch the bar or mat on the approach (turns away). This does not constitute as a jump.
  6. If a participant clears the height before their second attempt, he/she should wait until the bar is moved up to the next height before resuming jumps. (Participants should stay in order.)
  7. Two misses at any one height disqualifies the participant.
  8. Start on time, move bar up after each turn until six students are left. Then, refer to #7.
  9. Late entries must start where the height of the bar is set.

SMALL SCHOOL LEAGUE
OUTLINES FOR SOCCER TOURNAMENT

  1. 1. Basic “soccer laws” will always be observed unless stated otherwise.
  2. The game is started by a kick-off at the center of the field. A goal may not be scored directly from the kick-off, and the ball must go forward one full rotation before being touched by the kicking team.
  3. Only the goalie can use hands or arms.
  4. High kicking is not allowed and will result in a free kick.
  5. There is no slide tackling, excessive force, or rough play. This will result in a free kick.
  6. On a throw-in, the ball must be thrown with two hands above the head with both feet on the ground.
  7. All penalty kicks are indirect kicks. Everyone must be 10 feet away from the ball and must be touched by another player before going into the goal.
  8. There will be no off sides called.
  9. Teams can substitute players at any time.
  10. Points per game will be: 2-win, 1-tie, and 0-loss.
  11. Each team will be composed of 11 players with a minimum of (4) girls per team.
  12. Games: Two 11-minute halves and one 4-minute half-time break.
  13. Games are running time with no timeouts.
  14. The officials will be notified that the safety and proper attitude of all players is our utmost concern.

SMALL SCHOOLS LEAGUE
SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT

  1. No cleats allowed on campus.
  2. Teams will consist of 10 players, 2 of which will be roving outfielders (roving outfielders must always stay in outfield).
  3. Games will consist of 2 innings. Teams will have 5 minutes at bat each inning, regardless of the number of “outs”. The plate umpire will start play each inning when he/she determines both teams are ready to play. Each game should take about 25 minutes. If, in the opinion of the umpire, a fielding team is stalling, the umpire may award the batting team one more point in that inning. When time is called, play stops and no points are awarded.
  4. The batting team provides their own pitcher who must be one of the 10 members playing Each batter gets two pitches. They must fairly hit one of these pitches past the pitcher or be called out after the second pitch. There are no “walks”.
  5. Each batter must take a full swing at the ball- bunts are not allowed. Any batted ball that is touched by or hits the pitcher results in an automatic out for the batter. The pitcher may not interfere in any way with the batted ball. All other situations are “live ball”. Outfielders need to throw the ball to an infielder, and then he/she can play on a runner or stop play by throwing to the pitcher.
  6. Batters must bat in order. No “trades” are allowed in the lineup order. Substitutions, however, may be made at any time (4 girls must be always in the lineup).
  7. A play is “out” for stealing base or for taking a “lead” off base (no running until the ball is fairly hit). The umpire will also warn and/or call runners “out” for throwing the bat or sliding at any base,
  8. No infielder moves until ball is hit.
  9. The winner of each game will be given 1 point. If there is a tie, each team will receive 1 point. In the case of 2 teams typing with the same number of wins, their total number of runs for all games will be added up to determine the tie breaker. If 2 teams have the same number of wins, the same number of runs, then a flip of the coin will decide the winner.
  10. If we begin running short of time, games will be shortened to one inning.
  11. The ball used will be the “Incredi-Ball”. Bases will be sixty (60) feet apart. The pitcher will be thirty-five (35) from home plate. We recommend a mask for the catcher.
  12. There will be no chatter-interference during the game.
  13. Each school must provide their own bats, gloves, and mask.
