Drug Trend Symposium Scheduled  

KCSOS, in partnership with the California School Resource Officers Association, will host the Drug Trend Symposium on February 8, 2019 at the Larry E. Reider Education Center located at 2000 K St in Bakersfield.

While much attention has been paid to active shooter and emergency readiness efforts, narcotics trafficking, use and addiction has continued to harm our communities. Teens and adults continue to use more powerful, addictive and deadly drugs. Recent national studies have indicated while overall teen drug use is down, overdoses and deaths are steadily increasing for the adolescent population.

Experts in the field will cover a range of topics including the latest drug use trends, brain research on drug use and the developing teen brain, recognizing the warning signs that someone may be under the influence, and the link between depression, drug use and suicide. Experts will also provide school and community-based strategies.

The costs to attend is $100, which includes a continental breakfast and lunch.
