Bloodborne Pathogens

The California Occupational Safety and Health Administration (Cal-OSHA) issued a Bloodborne Pathogens regulation in order to minimize the potential for workplace exposure to pathogens including human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), Hepatitis B virus (HBV), and Hepatitis C virus (HBC).  The chart below provides guidance on whether an incident meets the Cal-OSHA definition of an Exposure Incident, and if so, the steps an employer must take to follow up.
