California Child Care Initiative Project (CCIP)

The California Child Care Initiative Project (CCIP) is a program funded by the California Department of Social Services.  The program’s primary focus is to increase the supply of quality licensed child care providers for infants and toddlers, during traditional and non-traditional hours.  CCIP offers training for individuals interested in becoming licensed in-home family child care providers and for those already licensed.  CCIP training topics include the following:

  • Working with Infants and Toddlers
  • Early Childhood Growth and Development
  • Working with Parents
  • Building a Successful Business

CCIP participants receive incentive packages that include books, educational toys, equipment, and other items to help them succeed as business owners.  CCIP participants must be Kern County residents, complete a minimum of 25 hours per training year, and actively work towards fulfilling the following licensing goals:

  • Become Licensed
  • Expand License from Small (8) FCC to Large (14) FCC
  • Add Infant and Toddler Care
  • Provide care during non-traditional days/hours
  • Actively participate in monthly CCIP training
