North Kern Community School

North Kern Community School is located in Delano and serves students in all grades through daily classroom instruction or independent study.

Enrollment in a Community School is restricted to the following groups:

1. Expelled students, including students who are temporarily enrolled while awaiting an expulsion hearing following a recommendation for expulsion.
2. Students referred by a School Attendance Review Board (SARB).
3. Students referred by the probation department.
4. Students whose parents or guardians have requested enrollment and received approval from the district. Voluntary enrollment may occur only when space is available and the district determines that enrollment in Community School will promote the student’s educational interests. A parent or guardian of a voluntarily enrolled student may rescind the request for placement at any time, at which point the student is entitled to immediate re-enrollment in their district of residence.
