NON-DISCRIMINATION POLICY
The Kern County Superintendent of Schools Office (KCSOS) prohibits discrimination, harassment, intimidation, and bullying based on actual or perceived ancestry, age, color, disability, gender, gender identity, gender expression, nationality, race or ethnicity, religion, sex, sexual orientation, marital or parental status or association with a person or a group with one or more of these actual or perceived characteristics.
Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (“Title IX”) is a federal law that prohibits sex-based discrimination in all educational programs and activities, including athletic programs. No person shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any educational program or activity operated by KCSOS. Title IX protects all participants in KCSOS educational programs and activities, including students, parents, employees, and job applicants. KCSOS does not discriminate on the basis of sex. Discrimination on the basis of sex can include sexual harassment and sexual violence.
