Many Kern County students need special education due to their unique disabilities, which often can't be met in typical classrooms. KCSOS’s Special Education department collaborates with parents, local school districts, and staff to create an appropriate learning environment. The department provides specialized programs and services for children from birth through age 21.
Throughout the geographical area of Kern County, there are students who require special education classes and services uniquely designed to address their disability. Often the student has a low incidence disability or the student’s needs can not be met in a typical classroom setting because of their specialized learning needs.
The programs and services provided by the Kern County Superintendent of Schools Office, Division of Special Education Services, is a collaborative effort on the part of the parents, local school district representatives and staff members to provide a learning environment and the specialists that are required to enhance the child’s learning. Programs and services are provided to children from birth through age 21.
