Child Welfare & Attendance is a specialized student support service that covers compliance with compulsory education laws, student admission and enrollment procedures, student discipline procedures, transfers to alternative programs, and school climate and safety.
Workshops
Supervisors of Attendance and SARB Certification
Participants who complete this training will be eligible for appointment as a supervisor of attendance in accordance with Education Code § 48240 et seq., and SARB-certified by the Kern County Superintendent of Schools.
Student Records
This workshop will cover the policies and procedures related to student records – from the gathering of student information beginning at the point of school enrollment to the destruction of records at the appropriate time.
Impacts of Legislative Update
This workshop will highlight new laws affecting the areas supported by student services/child welfare and attendance (CWA) staff.
Student Discipline
The workshop will address the proper application of the laws, policies, court decisions, and best practices that guide the suspension and expulsion process.
Comprehensive School Safety Planning
This workshop provides guidance in the development and/or revision of the school safety plan and that the content of the plan is useful and practical for all members of the school community.
Family Engagement
This workshop will equip educators and community stakeholders with the necessary tools and strategies to foster meaningful engagement between families, schools, and communities.
