The purpose of the TUPE program is to reduce youth tobacco, cannabis, and vape use by helping students make healthy decisions through classroom-based curriculum, youth engagement activities, one-on-one intervention support, and cessation support through referrals and group support.<\/p>\n<p>Grantees use the funds for the enforcement of Tobacco-Free School Policies, administration of the California Healthy Kids Survey (CHKS), and support for other activities that prevent the use of all tobacco products by youth.<\/p>\n<p><em>TUPE funding originates from tobacco tax revenue CA Prop 99 &amp; 56.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ca.gov\/fg\/fo\/profile.asp?id=6233\"><strong>Tobacco Use Prevention Education (TUPE) County Technical Assistance (CTA)<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>County Technical Assistance Funds grant is provided to county offices of education for leadership, administrative oversight, training, and technical assistance (TA) to all local educational agencies in the county. TA focuses on: tobacco-free school policies, support to LEAs on tobacco-use prevention education and instruction, staff professional development, family and community engagement, interagency partnerships, cessation support and referrals, and program assessment. For nearly 30 years, CTCP has led the fight to keep tobacco out of the hands of youth, help tobacco users quit, and ensure that all Californians can live, work, play, and learn in tobacco-free environments.
