Chromebook Checkout Procedures<\/h3>\n<\/td>\n

If chromebook is Stolen\/Lost\/Damaged<\/h3>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

There must be a Checkout System<\/em><\/strong><\/span> for the chromebooks that shows what chromebook each student is using.<\/p>\n
    \n
  1. These chromebooks must be checked out, with the student initials, when first handed out, noting the student name and chromebook #.<\/li>\n
  2. When student is done with the chromebooks, the chromebook must be inspected by staff member, then checked out.<\/li>\n
  3. Inspection, check for any damage, keys missing, or tagging.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

For every classroom, there is a unique student login username\/password.<\/p>\n

  • Always use chromebook checkout system<\/li>\n
  • Physically monitor chromebooks when students are using them<\/li>\n
  • Only have security cart unlocked when passing out and returning chromebooks. The cart should always be locked, even during class hours.<\/li>\n
  • Don’t leave unattended chromebooks on the counter<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

  • Student chromebook use should only be for classroom instruction with your lesson plan. At no times, should any students be playing online games,
    \nor have random web surfing time.<\/li>\n
  • Since we started this policy, spyware issues have gone down about 95% on student chromebooks. Also, there is much less discipline issues with students when they are not allowed to freely surf the web.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n

CIPA<\/strong><\/a>
\nLEAs are required to have measures & policies in place to protect students from obscene and harmful materials.<\/p>\n

COPPA<\/strong><\/a>
\nApplies to companies & limits their ability to collect personal info for kids under 13. They must maintain the confidentially, security, & integrity of information they collect.<\/p>\n

FERPA<\/strong><\/a>
\nFERPA protects students’ records & gives parents the rights to view them. Schools will not post student identifiable information publicly online. Schools may disclose some directory information, post student work & photos for public viewing but will not publish student last names or other personally identifiable information.
