“College: Making it Happen” is a college resource fair for sixth thru 11th graders and their parents
The Southern San Joaquin Valley Cal-SOAP Consortium will present its annual academic and financial planning presentation, “College: Making it Happen!,” on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at the Icardo Center on the CSU Bakersfield campus. Registration is from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m., with the program running from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“College: Making it Happen!” is a free educational resource designed to communicate with sixth through 11 graders the importance of early academic and financial planning to local middle school students, their parents, and school educators.
Student sessions will cover a range of topics including: high school graduation requirements; college course eligibility; financial aid; scholarship opportunities; four systems of higher education; and career technical education. There will also be a student-led campus tour and resource fair.
Parent sessions will be offered in both English and Spanish with the following options: high school graduation and A-G course requirements; financial aid; scholarship opportunities; and a parent-to-parent panel.
