Personal Attention: Talk with a benefits counselor
An important step in planning your financial future is to talk with a CalSTRS benefts specialist. Benefits Counseling Sessions and Benefits Counseling Appointments can provide important information throughout your career. CalSTRS recommends a session or appointment on at least three occasions:
- Early career – once a member reaches five years of service credit
- Mid career – 10 to 30 years of service credit or near age 55 for possible pre-election of an option
- Final appointment – three to six months prior to the actual retirement date
CalSTRS school-site workshops, poly-comm individual counseling appointment may be scheduled by school site or district office administrators by contacting the local CalSTRS Client Outreach and Guidance Services office.
