Instructional Aide I – Valley Oaks Tehachapi
Under general supervision, to perform a variety of follow-up instructional activities, to assist in the conducting of training and learning activities with children experiencing special learning needs. To perform a variety of routine clerical and supportive activities for instructional personnel, to do other related work as required.
$12.07 per hour
Temporary assignment: 2 hours per day/ 5 days a week
One year of paid or volunteer experience working with students age 9 through 17 years of age. Must be 18 years of age
Minimum Education Requirements
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade, supplemented by training or coursework in growth instructional technology, or a closely related field. Must submit proof of passage of the Basic Proficiency Test as required by California State law
Examples of duties
Assist instructional personnel with presentation of learning materials; assist teacher with grading student assignments; tutor individual and small groups of students to reinforce and follow up learning activities; monitor and assist students in drill, practice, and study activities as a follow up to the presentation of instructional concepts; assist in management of student behavior through the use of positive reinforcement strategies and techniques; work with teachers to prepare instructional materials and learning aids for use with individual and small groups of students, assist students with developmental tasks, and help maintain and assist an orderly, attractive and positive learning environment.
Demonstrate an understanding, patient, and receptive attitude toward students of varied age groups; communicate effectively in oral and written form in English, as required by the assignment; lift school items such as books, computer parts, etc., up to 25 pounds; stand or walk supervising students in class and outside between campuses; understand and carry out oral and written directions; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students and adults.
