Lookers, Contributors, Creators #5 Blog
This past Wednesday, I attended Jamie Butow’s Social Media Class. The big take away was the following power point slide: OnFacebook there are
- 90% of lookers,
- 9% contributors, and
- 1% are the creators.
The lookers are those who watch from the distance never commenting or interacting, the contributors are the ones who post a like or maybe a comment or two, and finally there are the creators. The ones who jump in and post a picture or create a page. I found this powerful. Grant writing pulls from the 9% and 1%, you know who you are! You make things happen. To me Facebook reminds me of grant writing. There are those who talk about grant writing and those who make it happen. It means taking a risk and being able to effectively tell your story.
The last fact also hit home from the class. How well you can tell your story and grab your reader really matters. Grant writing is like telling the visual story. Jamie shared these statistics on Facebook photo posts account for 93% of the most engaging posts on Facebook. They get 53% more likes, 104% more comments and 84% more click-through on links than text based posts. Similarly, pictures in grants that are strategically placed can be powerful!
