Communications

About Communications
Communications is one of many services this office provides to our departments and Kern County school districts. This includes media relations and counsel, news conference preparation and execution, crisis communications, writing, editing, marketing and electronic communications. We also provide assistance on specific projects for office partners and affiliated organizations. Trained Communications staff members are immediately available to assist during emergencies, with community relations and other issues of importance.

Our service commitment: To provide uniform external and internal communications on all printed, electronic, video and web communications that reflects the professionalism, high standards and commitment to our children by all who work for the Kern County Superintendent of Schools.

Media Relations
The Communications Department handles MEDIA RELATIONS for the Kern County Superintendent of Schools Office. It is office policy that news releases, advisories, public service announcements and other contacts with the media be routed through the Communications Department.

The department compiles a publicity schedule which includes events, workshops, meetings and other items of interest to the media. This list is updated throughout the year. Foggy day procedures for school delays and school closures are also coordinated through this office.

The department is also available to school districts to assist with marketing and communication planning.
