New California laws effective January 1, 2017

Maximum Family Grant (Cash Aided Families)
Effective January 1, 2017, no child will be denied aid because he or she was born into a family that received cash aid continuously for ten months immediately prior to their birth. Children previously determined as MFG and excluded from the Assistance Unit (AU) shall have their needs included when determining the Maximum Aid Payment (MAP) and must be added to the AU effective January 1, 2017, if all other conditions of eligibility are met. Minimum Wage SB 3
Minimum wage will rise to $10.50 per hour on January 1, 2017 for businesses with 26 or more employees, and then rise each year until reaching $15 per hour in 2022. Learn More >

Car seat safety AB 53 passed in 2015
This bill would require a parent, legal guardian, or the driver of a motor vehicle to properly secure a child who is under 2 years of age in an appropriate rear-facing child passenger restraint system, unless the child weighs 40 or more pounds or is 40 or more inches in height. Learn More >
